I'm very happy to say that Savannah has fully recovered from those injuries and if you saw her today, you would never know this tragic accident ever took place.

Savannah had been with us for only 2 weeks when tragedy struck . . .
On a Saturday afternoon, I was writing letters at my dining room table. Beau and Delta were asleep on the floor at my feet. Savannah was sleeping on my lap. I had my left hand resting gently on her back. All of a sudden and without warning, Savannah bolted off my lap. It was as though she had awakened from a bad dream. It happened too fast for me to catch her. As soon as she landed on the floor I knew she had broken a bone in one of her legs. I rushed her to the Emergency Animal Hospital. I was shocked when they told me she had broken both bones in both her front legs. A total of 4 bones.
She went to Surgery on the following Monday morning. I picked her up on Monday afternoon. She spent the rest of the week on my lap. She was so pitiful. She hardly moved. The next day she was a little better. Then, the next day she was beginning to put weight on her legs and was able to walk around a little. Each day saw some improvement in her condition. Those casts did not keep her down for long. It was during this time that I seriously considered changing her name to "Thumper". (Because of the sound she made when following behind me in those little casts.)
The day after I brought Savannah home from the hospital is the day I had to take Beau and Delta to their first photo shoot for the Yorkie Calendar. How ironic it is that Savannah would not be able to go to the shoot. Her AKC registered name is "Bejaze PinUp Girl".
But Savannah had her own moment of glory. I entered Savannah in an Internet Dog Photo contest. She won that contest with a landslide victory that had never been seen on that site before.
